Bears

Just a reminder that it may be prudent to take bear spray with you at this time of year. I took this photo on April 12, 2006 on Tyrwhitt. Where do you think the exact location was?

Where do you think a hungry bear would be? It was right around the picnic table, of course. Cheryl swears she heard the bear in the trees. We know the tracks were fresh because the trail had just been groomed, and light snow had just started falling. You could see the bear’s tracks emerging from the trees on the east side, perhaps this was his first foray out from hibernation.

  1. Hi Bob and fellow skiers. I’m from St.Paul in NE Alberta and am thinking of driving down to PLPP for a season ender this Friday to Sunday April 8 to 10. Do you think the great conditions that your blog is describing at Elk Pass will hold up until at least this coming weekend? What are folks generally using for kick wax in your spring skiing since your recent fresh snowfall?
