Moraine Lake road will be packed Wednesday

Snow-vember is here!

I couldn’t contain my curiosity and took a spin up to Lake Louise this afternoon and ran into the grooming/tracksetting team at the Moraine Lake road(MLR) trailhead as they were busy unloading the equipment.

MLR has about 12 cm of snow, perhaps more higher up. If all goes according to plan, it will be packed tomorrow. They have a fancy, new Sherpa snowmobile and new grooming equipment which should make the job go faster.

After packing it will still be somewhat thin, so be prepared to have your pole tips hit pavement. John expects it will not have enough depth to set a track yet.

All this is contingent on there being no unforseen problems with equipment.

Make sure to look at the photos. You’ll see a very impressive rack.

  1. Great photos of a beautiful elk. If you ask me, though, it looks like he already has a smile on his face in the last picture.
