Calgarian wins junior biathlon gold medal

This is a little late, but congratulations are in order for Kurtis Wenzel of Calgary who made history on Tuesday Feb 21, becoming the first Canadian to  win an event at the junior biathlon world championships.

“Biathlon is a huge sport in Europe, Russia, the Eastern block, etc. The sport  requires tremendous cardiovascular fitness combined with intense mental focus.  Congratulations to our Calgary Athlete Kurtis Wenzel for his awesome gold  performance today.  Kurtis Wenzel may well be a contender in the upcoming 2014  Olympics. Go Canada!”

Andrew ‘s trip report should be good news to all Calgarians who want to ski at West Bragg Creek “Excellent condition at Bragg Creek today, did 17 km, all been groomed/trackset this afternoon, great fast snow”

  1. Congratulations Kurtis! What a win!. I have know Kurtis since he was ‘knee high to a grasshoppe’r as they say. Not only is he extremely talented and disciplined, he comes from a very fine family, has enormous integrity and a fine character. Keep on going Kurtis! We are cheering for you big time!
