Spring comes early

Thanks for all the trip reports today. I wish the news was better. I haven’t been out for the past two days, so I’m wondering if anyone was skiing on the south end trails at PLPP.  Did anyone ski at Elk Pass or Whiskey Jack? Is it worth going there on waxless skis? Klister?

  1. I skied Elk Pass on Friday (March 9) using waxless skis and it was fine. My friends didn’t have waxless and were struggling to find a wax that worked. We ended up cutting the day short, but it was still great to get out!

  2. I’m going to try a klister ski on Spray loop tomorrow-snow seems to have transitioned in valley bottom so as long as we don’t get fresh snow threre tonight hopefully it will work well…….Nordic center great for skating but earlier is better unless you rill your skis to break the suction.

  3. I skied in the area including Blueberry Hill, Lookout, Elk Pass and Whiskey Jack today. The waxing was frustrating. I had to stop regularly to scrape off accumulated snow. It was slower than usual, but it gave me a good workout. I’m not sure I’d want to ski tomorrow. It’ll be icy in the morning and soft in the afternoon. Having said that, I’m glad I got out today. It was sunny and beautiful and warm enough to ski in a short sleeve t-shirt!
