– Dakota Blackhorse von Jess(#47) from the U.S. was the men’s winner in the Frozen Thunder classic sprint –
Snow conditions were at their best for October and the sky was blue with a temperature around 0°C early in the day. Most skiers were using klister, but a few of the men tried to go without grip and double-pole their way around.
The trail had three excellent tracks for the 1K classic course. The eventual men’s winner, U.S. skier Dakota Blackhorse von Jess did use grip and beat out his teammate Andy Newell who was last year’s winner. The women’s winner was Katerina Smutna from Austria. You can see the full results on Zone 4. Cross Country Canada also has a Race Report. Global TV was there, so you may see it on the supper news.
Andy Newell has a blog posting about Frozen Thunder
Nice photo-documentary.
