Skiing this weekend in Canmore – Guaranteed!

It was dumping snow in Canmore today!

Frozen Thunder has faithfully returned for the fifth consecutive year. By Saturday, all the snow will have been hauled from the deep freeze and dumped on the trails leading out from the biathlon range, making for 2k of groomed trail.

As you can see,  the snow is still uneven but will eventually be groomed with corduroy for skating and a classic track.

Frozen Thunder will be open for public use after 12:00 noon on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.  A day pass or the new “Frozen Thunder Pass” is required to ski Frozen Thunder prior to November 15. If you’re not familiar with this early-season phenomenon, you can update yourself with the rules, hours, and prices here: Frozen Thunder details.

  1. They gave you ringside seats for the dumping, Bob. Well done!

I can literally feel here in Ontario the anticipation that Calgary skiers are getting for the start of a new season.

  2. Fantastic shots, thanks for sharing!
