A different perspective

The previous post about West Bragg Creek brought forth some interesting comments. It reminded me of this comment from a reader named John, when we were having the dog controversy. It puts things in a different perspective:

I see blog reader “Chuper” is still having the dog debate. He was replying to a comment from Don that makes me wonder why we don’t have a few dedicated off-leash dog trails around here. Perhaps the fact that “their skier visits have increased a lot” will get some people thinking about it at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

I’m sure glad that Chris Thomas and Miles Tindal went to Lake Louise today, otherwise we wouldn’t have much of a Friday night update. From the sounds of their trip reports, conditions are good at Lake Louise and continuing to improve. Chris’ comment reminds us all why we leave trip reports, ” thanks for letting us know that it was being groomed yesterday. Reports like this on recent or planned grooming are really helpful in this era of limited updates from Parks Canada…”

Weather“Snow is Life”

A snowfall warning is in effect for Calgary, Kananaskis, and Canmore, with 10 – 15 cm in the forecast. I hope this will freshen up the West Bragg Creek trails so that we can continue to have these debates 🙂 Lesser amounts are predicted for Banff and Lake Louise. If you’re driving from Calgary tomorrow, be prepared for some pretty sketchy road conditions. With the snow, there’s also supposed to be high winds. It sounds like a good old fashioned blizzard.

Market at 3 Sisters in Canmore

Market at 3 Sisters in Canmore

If you are coming to Canmore to ski at the nordic centre, you don’t have to drive through the centre of town to get a latte.  Take the Three Sisters exit and stop at The Market at 3 Sisters. It’s also a great place to stop for after-ski refreshments. This weekend, Anthony’s special is Shepherd’s Pie.

I see my name appeared in 13th position on the list of Kicking Horse Ski Club members. If you enjoy skiing at Emerald Lake and Yoho, consider buying a membership in the club. Ski club members get a fantastic deal at Emerald Lake Lodge.

West Bragg Creek also requires your support. If you ski there , please consider a donation to the cause. http://www.braggcreekski.org.

If you make it to Lake Louise this weekend, a reminder to stop at Wilson’s and ask to enter the contest Win Atomic SkinTec skis.

Volunteers are still needed for the IPC World Cup at Canmore http://www.albertaworldcup.com
