Some signs of life

The Live Grooming Reports are showing their value in situations like we are experiencing right now. With everything carpeted in tree debris, anything with new grooming should be enjoyable to ski.

It dropped below zero in Canmore last night and all the major natural snow trails at Canmore Nordic Centre were groomed early this morning. That includes Bow, Banff, and Meadowview. The usual man-made snow trails were also done.

I was thrilled to see that Elk pass, Blueberry, Tyrwhitt, Lookout and Hydroline were groomed in PLPP overnight. That means the temperature must have been cold enough for tracksetting. The webcam indicates a temperature of -3°C. The webcam usually registers a few degrees warmer than it really is.

Let us know what you find while you’re out there today.

  1. I have to agree. After seeing the devastation from Wednesdays wind I was thrilled with trail conditions today. CNC staff did an incredible job.

  2. Hi Bob
Jan 15, I skied CNC to find the trails a mess of debris. Lots of us skiing were doing our best to help remove the major bits of debris so the groomers could recharge for today. Got to CNC this morning – Jan 16 and found an amazing transformation for a great skate ski. Most of the mess got churned into the snow. Man made snow was not classic set (strange) but the natural snow has a nice classic track and reports from friends classicing on a mixture klister and hard wax, reported good skiing and no build-up of clingons!
Thanks to the staff at CNC for their hard work over the last 24 hrs!!!!!!!
