Sat Jan 11 at 8:52 a.m. We’ve received 2 cm of snow in Canmore and it’s snowing lightly. Thankfully it was not preceded by rain as the forecast predicted. No wind yet, either, as the snow is coming straight down. Temperature is -3°C. The Banff trail report says they received 10 cm overnight.
The Environment Canada forecast for Canmore and Kananaskis village:
Cloudy. Periods of rain beginning this morning then changing to periods of wet snow this afternoon. Snow at times heavy over western sections early this morning. Snowfall amount 10 cm over western sections. Snow level 1800 metres lowering to valley bottom this afternoon. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40 increasing to 40 gusting to 60 this morning. High 7.
It appears to be a little colder as you go west. The forecast high for Banff is +2 with 10-20 cm of snow. I would expect that might also be fairly accurate for PLPP.
Lake Louise temps are remaining sub-zero but they are also getting 10 cm of snow.
The Live Grooming Report shows that Amos, Lynx, Meadow, Wheeler and Woolley were groomed last night in PLPP. Jeff put in some groovy tracks on the Skogan pass trails yesterday(read more details on the Groomer’s Reports).
The Olympic trials continue at the Canmore Nordic Centre today with skate sprints. There will be minimal impact on the recreation trails. Read more CNC updates.
