Fresh snow

Spray river west

Spray river west

I didn’t do any skiing for the past two days, but I did have a look at the Spray River trail in Banff today. It appears to have received about 3 cm of new snow. The tracks were skied-in and conditions looked good. The snow temperature was probably around -1 or -2. The above Iphone photo shows a lot of footprints from walkers, but they stayed out of the tracks.

We also received about 3 cm in Canmore.  The temperature got quite warm, reaching +3. It didn’t get that warm in Banff, however.

From the sounds of Ray’s Trip Report, PLPP received more snow(10 cm) and it stayed cold enough for wax to work well.

Why do cross country skiers collapse at the finish line?
