Up to 25 cm in PLPP

You may have seen this on the Groomer’s Report from Jody already, but here it is again:

Minus twelve and snowing lightly in the Elk Pass parking lot at 6:30AM. Lightly is not how I would describe the falling snow for most of the previous 15 hours or so however, as there was around 25cm’s of fresh snow on top of the previous nights grooming at 11PM and about another 5cm’s fell between then and 6:30 this morning. The remainder of the trails in the south end were groomed overnight (plus a couple of repeats) as well as the snowmobile groomed trails. Check out the PLPP Live Grooming Report for details (and in this case March 26th does not mean last night but the night before). Expect a couple cm’s at least on top of last nights grooming, and probably close to 20cm’s and up on any other trail. Currently in the North end it is still snowing lightly but there is some blue sky to be seen amidst the clouds.

Over the past 2 days we’ve received about 10 cm in Canmore. Sharkfest is on this weekend at Canmore Nordic Centre. For an update on trail closures, check the CNC page.

BraggCreek.ca on Twitter reports 6 cm in the past 24 hours in West Bragg “and no end in sight.” You can follow me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/SkiHere.

Does anyone know if the Banff tracksetter has packed it in for the season? The last reports of tracksetting were on March 13. With all this new snow, it would be a shame if it didn’t get groomed. Shadow Lake Lodge is now closed, so Redearth creek will likely not get any more grooming. Tracksetting continues at Lake Louise and I hope at Yoho and Emerald Lake.

I haven’t been doing a lot of updates recently, but if you’re hungry for reading material, this previous post from 2011 will give you some background on what goes into the grooming process(read the comments from Jeff). Also, take note that grooming now occurs on the weekends in PLPP.  Grooming question

  1. Baker Creek to Castle Lookout was trackset on March 21.
We skied it Tuesday the 25th, and it was excellent.
