It would have made a great ski trail

The air was crisp and cool, but the sun was shining, and a bull elk was bugling as Tessa and I hiked around the multi-million dollar golf course which has never seen a paid round of golf.

This herd of elk is a nine-iron away from the tenth green. They didn’t let me play through.

The Three Sisters golf course was 99% completed when the development company went into bankruptcy. There’s about 10K of paved pathways meandering through the incredibly scenic landscape which is now used only by the occasional biker and hiker, and a herd of elk. The cart path would make a lovely ski trail. Tracksetting would be simple and easy since there are no hazards to speak of. It wouldn’t require much snow due to the firm, smooth base. The Three Sisters Mountain Village Ltd development company went into receivership in February 2009. It is now under new ownership and is once again developing land, mostly in the Stewart Creek area. 1. Great suggestion. How about a dog friendly ski trail since there is plenty of space and good visibility and dog friendly trails are not easily found around Canmore…just a thought.

    • This woukd be a wonderful trail for dog friendly skiing! Skier Bob and I would be the first ones on the trail with our Springer Spaniel Tessa who loves skiing and hiking with us!! Can’t wait to ski with my sweetie pie and Tessa!
