Nov 1 snowfall update

Welcome to our first taste of winter! As for me, it’s nice to be back home after a very intense week doing non-ski stuff. I dislike having to neglect the blog for such a long stretch, but I hope you enjoyed playing Guess the Trail while I was preoccupied. Don’t forget to set your clock back one hour tonight.

It’s been snowing since 2 pm in Canmore, but only since 5 pm has it started to accumulate. The temperature has dropped below zero, and according to the weather forecast, we could receive 10 – 15 cm overnight. That could be a blessing for Frozen Thunder at the Canmore Nordic Centre if it materializes. The Nordic Centre is making snow when the temp drops at night.

ForecastThe storm has come up from the south, so Banff is not seeing much of this if any at all. The roads looked pretty clear when I checked the Sunshine and Castle Junction webcams. You do know about my webcam page, I hope? It’s on the main menu.

The Weather Network is predicting up to 5 cm of snow in Lake Louise tonight, and smaller amounts over the next few days. Will we be skiing on Moraine lake road by Nov 10 as is usually the case?

  1. Bob… if you want some good skiing snow come into NW Calgary… have about 15-20cm in my yard. Took 50mins to shovel the driveway and sidewalk! I can’t wait to get out for a ski!
