I have a page which lists the loppets in this area, but there’s a lot of incomplete information when you click on the links.
Jan 24: The Lake Louise to Banff Loppet has been sold out from the first hour of registration, and everything is in order. If you are a participant who is skiing the first leg, you might want to take advantage of 20% off at Mountaineer Lodge in Lake Louise on the night before.
I have no information whatsoever regarding the Bob Johnstone loppet in Red Deer.
Jan 30, 31: There is a Zone4 registration page for Nipika, but the web page which gives more info is a dead end.
Feb 6: The Huckleberry Classic Loppet in Golden BC has no information, but they do have a Zone4 registration page.
Feb 13: Everything appears to be in order for the Birkebeiner
Feb 21: This link has info on the Grizzly Ski Marathon
Feb 27: Kananaskis Ski Marathon has no info, and I couldn’t find a registration page.
Mar 6: The Calgary Ski Club has some info on the Lake Louise Loppet and for the first time registration will be on Zone4.
March ? Rocky Mountain Ski Challenge in Canmore. No info.
Hi Bob:
I checked Cross Country Canada’s website and found their race events site that includes AB Loppets:
Here is the link: http://www.xcountryab.net/alberta-loppet-series/
Sorry, correction here: it is Cross Country Alberta’s website with the loppet events.
Cookie race info & registration is at cookierace.com, signup starts today Jan 12
Thanks, Patty. Here’s the live link for the information page http://cookierace.com/ but I still couldn’t find a link for registration. I searched Zone4 without success.
It’s up on zone4 now, and they’ve added the link to their website too.
I believe the Rocky Mountain Ski Marathon is not being held this year because of the load caused by the Tour de Ski Canada. Cookie race info usually comes out a month before.
