The evolution of skiing

The evolution of skiing

The snow is gently falling outside the world headquarters of SkiHere as I write this at 9:30 a.m. Temperature is -7°C. The forecast is calling for 1-3 cm of snow today just about everywhere in my broadcast area.

This has really been the winter of our dreams. A big snowfall at the beginning of November, cold weather to preserve the snow, very little wind to blow down the dreaded pine needles, and only one day of rain which was quickly followed by more snow and cold weather to fix things up again. The cold weather has been “pleasant” cold weather, not bitterly cold.

Fabulous, too, that conditions at West Bragg Creek have been the best ever, allowing Calgarians to enjoy wonderful skiing close to home.

I hope that everyone who is skiing at West Bragg Creek is making their donations, whether it’s $2 at the trailhead, or a tax-deductible amount online at Bragg Creek Trails

The IBU World Cup Biathlon is coming to Canmore in two weeks. The bleacher party looks like fun.

Lots of tracksetting occurred last night in PLPP including Amos, Woolley, Meadow, Wheeler, Lodgepole, Braille, and Moraine.

Considering the Birkebeiner this year? The latest word has it that all Birkie ski events are a go.

I can understand why downhillers are overly sensitive to the remarks made about that inferior activity. If you’re not insulted yet, go back and read this post from 2011 Evolution(according to Dennis)

It’s all in fun, folks, and the downhill blogs are free to insult me back!
