Canmore Nordic Centre

-Preparations for Ski Tour Canada are underway at the CNC with the installation of this Jumbotron-

I was glad to hear of the fresh snow in Banff and Lake Louise. I think West Bragg even received a bit. Thanks for all the Trip Reports.

After reading Bev’s Trip Report, I decided it might be nice to go for a ski at CNC.

There was a skiff of snow in Canmore today which didn’t accumulate on my deck, but there was about 1 cm on Meadowview which made for pretty nice skiing.

The snow by the daylodge was very icy and the tracks on the man-made snow were icy. Wax would not have worked. Skaters were doing okay.

I used my skintecs and had good grip and glide. On Meadowview the fresh snow made for a slightly softer track where wax may have worked. I didn’t ski on the natural snow on Banff trail.

A Jumbotron has been installed by the daylodge in preparation for Ski Tour Canada which  comes to Canmore on March 8. It begins in Gatineau, Quebec tomorrow.

You can watch live coverage of tomorrow’s(Tuesday) sprint events in the Ski Tour Canada beginning at 11:45 a.m.

  1. The Ottawa area is in for a snow storm today, with predicted accumulations of up to 25cm. I wonder how the skiing at Gatineau will go?

  2. West Bragg Creek only got about 2cm of new snow. Not enough to re-groom the trails. However, volunteers are be shovelling snow and renovating several short trails this week, in preparation for the Alberta Youth XC Championships, this weekend.
