Forest of Sound by Mary Perrott

This is how Mary’s trip report should appear:

Forest of sound

Mary has a way of making words come alive, and I can paint a vivid picture in my mind. Beautiful!

Good Tracks on Kicking Horse River. See Chuck's Trip Report for details and more photos.

Thanks to everyone for the updates. I’m still down with this horrible flu/cold/cough. I don’t think I’ve come this close to death since being hit head-on by a semi on the highway 27 years ago. Feels the same, but this recovery is a lot slower!

I probably set myself back by venturing out on the weekend when I should have stayed home, but it’s near impossible for me to stay away from the loppet. I think I may have turned the corner today, and will hopefully be back out on the trails soon.

Nice to see that West Bragg Creek has risen from the ashes. Check the Groomer’s Reports for the latest good news.

Nipika loppet 2017 Upcoming Loppets

The LL to Banff loppet which was held this past weekend was sold out in 15 minutes, but there are others which still have room(and probably much better conditions!).

Cookie Race 2017This weekend it’s the Nipika Loppet with a race distance for every member of the family, for every age, and every ability. There’s a classic race on Saturday and a skate race on Sunday. I see from the Zone4 confirmation list that 170 skiers are registered so far.

On Sat Feb 25 the Foothills Nordic Ski Club presents the iconic Cookie Race, aka the Kananaskis Ski Marathon in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.

Go to the Loppets page to see a list of other upcoming loppets.
