Hello Bob,

We have been following your website for a couple of years now. Between your blog and Chic Scott’s book, “Ski Trails in the Canadian Rockies”, we have explored many beautiful places on our light touring skis.

With the fresh snowfall we decided to head up Chickadee Valley for our first time. The snow was approximately 10 cms deep in an old snowshoe track. We didn’t see any signs of anyone proceding us in the valley today.

Today at Chickadee Valley we had an amazing encounter. We noticed a set of tracks meandering across our path. Halfway up the creek we came upon a mother Lynx and her yearling kitten. They did not seem bothered by our presence even though we were only thirty feet away when we noticed them. The mother sauntered up the creek and sat down while her kitten caught up to her. They then walked off into the trees to resume their hunt. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been granted such an amazing experience today.

Thank you for all your efforts and dedication to your blog. I have enclosed a picture of the kitten.

  2. Good to hear they are doing well in K country! I have some pictures of them too on my instagram & I sometimes worry about them being too tame.
