I didn’t ski today, but we have trip reports from most of the areas where there is still some reasonably good skiing to be had.

BarbBanff was excited about seeing the wolverine tracks near the Packers – Pocaterra junction in PLPP. It’s the typical, unmistakable, three-print diagonal. I don’t know about you, but I also get excited to know the wolverines, wolves, lynx, and even the snowshoe hares are out there.

I wanted to post this update just to let everyone know that my glowing update from yesterday no longer applies in PLPP. From the reports, there’s lots of fresh snow on the trails. I expect some grooming will occur tonight, and those would be a good choice for tomorrow.

It sounds like HeatherD had a good experience on Lake O’Hara fire road.

Moraine Lake road was scheduled to be trackset today according to the Banff trail report.

Mt Shark was groomed last night but you’d have to deal with terrible spring driving conditions on the Smith-Dorrien.

The Magic Hour at Canmore Nordic Centre:

The races are over at the Canmore Nordic Centre and BarryG’s report sounds positive:

All the debris from last Sunday windstorm has been pulverized and mixed into the snow on those outer trails which were groomed in the last couple days. Tracks were quite clean with just some trivial needles and spruce cones remaining. What a difference from a couple days ago.

Today, the magic hour between ice and slush was from 1200-1300.

  1. We had a great ski at Shark today. Used skintecs. Then went back out for a skate ski. The road was fine from the turn off from plpp to Shark but the road was terrible from Shark to Canmore. Don’t do it.
