It will be very crowded on Saturday around Pocaterra Hut. This update is from Tom Lambert of the Foothills Nordic Ski Club:
“For those making weekend plans, please note that the entire PLPP trail system remains open on Saturday during the race. But Pocaterra Hut will be a hive of activity, so you’ll find the other trailheads more peaceful. Also, the single-track of Moraine and Fox Creek will be a little hazardous between 11am and 1pm as the racers descend that stretch at full tilt.
Registration has closed, but volunteer opportunities remain at www.volunteersignup.org/KBELR for anyone looking for excitement and home-baked cookies.”
The grooming schedule has been changed as well. I imagine that’s why Mt Shark was groomed on Tuesday night. The PLPP trail report makes these remarks:
“The usual grooming schedule will be changed for the week to accommodate the annual “Cookie Race held on Saturday Feb. 24th. Expect a change from the usual track-setting patterns and use caution when skiing trails used in the race.”
It’s not like we have a shortage of places to ski right now so if you want to avoid the crowds, consider skiing on other trails. For a shorter drive, conditions are excellent at Kananaskis Village, Ribbon Creek, and Bill Milne.
Have you tried Greyhound?

Hi John, I just calculated from home how much it would cost to send your bottlle. It looks like it would be around $16. Not sure it’s worth it for you given it doesn’t cost much more to replace with a new one. Let me know what you would like me to do.
Hi. the new water bottle is $32.
please send parcel post.
cheers John
Hi John, ok, I will take it to the post office to confirm the rate and then if you could send me an e-transfer to this email then I will pop it in the mail
Hi John, just took it to the post office and it would cost $16.71. My email is kstewfam@gmail.com for the e-transfer. When I have that I will mail it out to you

Yes the weather and the cookies turned out perfect! We have quite a collection of lost and found, so if you are missing something, write to cookierace@foothillsnordic.ca and we’ll return it to you.
I was out skiing on Whiskey Jack this past Saturday during the race and found a Camelbak water bottle. If it is yours, let me know and I can arrange to get it to you.
Kudos to the volunteers baking all those cookies… I don’t think I’ve ever tasted better! A very well run event, and it looked like everyone had a lot of fun, so thank you to everyone involved in pulling it off!
Track conditions were terrific, and couldn’t have asked for nicer weather. Now… all we need is a chairlift going up Whiskey Jack, and we’d have a perfect race 🙂
Hi John, I’m assuming you don’t want me to send the water bottle.
Hi Karen sorry yes I was away I will forward the money thank john
