Pretty nice conditions on Frozen Thunder considering all the warm weather we’ve had. Peter was having success with his skin skis and described the snow as sugary with shaved ice. At 1 p.m. the tracks were still in good shape.
I ventured out for the first time this year to see how my new shoulder would fare. Easing into it, I stayed on the less-demanding parts of the trail and only put in about 20 minutes. I used my zero skis and had excellent grip and glide.
The temperature was +4°C under a sunny sky with little wind. I was most impressed with the cleanliness of the snow. Old-timers may remember the early years of Frozen Thunder when we were skiing through lots of sawdust. The entrance by the biathlon range was also shiny and clean.
The weather forecasts are still predicting snow for Lake Louise but not as much as two days ago. Let’s see what happens.
