Monday morning update

We finally have some places to ski besides Lake Louise. Temperatures are staying cold, so this snow should hang around for a while.

Strathmore golf course has been roll-packed. GPS track by Ed Meyer.

After reading all the trip reports from yesterday, it appears the weekend snowfall was enough to groom some trails. Not necessarily trackset, but who’s complaining. Thanks, everyone, for your reports.

Here’s a quick synopsis of freshly groomed trails:

West Bragg Creek – all the trails have been rolled, hazards still exist on some trails, and Groomer Dave says to avoid Telephone Loop. Steve Riggs reports “Mountain Road, Crystal Lines east, west, and middle, Moose Connector and Mountain View- had the best skiing and were all in good condition.”

Confederation golf course – rolled. Charles warns us to be careful when walking through the parking lot as it is very icy.

Strathmore golf course(see GPS track) – rolled. Ed Meyer reports “There are some grassy sections that can be easily negotiated.  I would say 90% will be good to skate or classic ski on packed snow.”

Canmore Nordic Centre – some rolling has occurred on natural snow trails. Please read Hugh’s trip report for details.

Yoho – Tally-Ho and Kicking Horse River have been trackset.

Additionally, we learned from Janice that Elk Pass received a significant amount of fresh snow.
