What’s on your wish List?

First on my wish list

Right now, cross-country skiers are like a bunch of kids waiting for Christmas morning. If all the trails in the SkierBob domain were trackset, which one would you head to first? What is at the top of your wish list?

First on my wish list

Long-time readers of this blog will know where to find me.

We’ve had significant snow overnight in the mountains, but it looks like the big snowfall is coming on Monday afternoon and evening, into Tuesday morning. I expect we may see some grooming as a result of this morning’s snowfall, but it will soon be covered by the next dump.

First on my wish list

I don’t see much new snow on the West Bragg Creek web cam, but it looks like the snow rabbit will get it’s first real workout as WBC is on tap to receive somewhere in the vicinity of 30 cm.

Hopefully the Banff tracksetter will be busy on Spray River/Goat Creek, Cascade Valley, Redearth Creek, Healy Creek and Brewster Creek.

First on my wish list

I suggested that moving the Ribbon Creek snowcat to Mt Shark would make it snow and it worked. The area already received 8 cm today according to MaSid, and there’s another 30 cm on the way. Got your Kananaskis parking pass? So many wonderful trails to explore such as Bill Milne, Skogan Pass, and all the village trails.

I hate to dampen the enthusiasm, but after a major weather event with wind and lots of snow, it sometimes takes the trail crews a while to clear the trails of fallen trees and pack the snow. Remember last year, right around this time? The ice storm followed by a huge snowfall brought down dozens of trees which needed to be cleared. It made for some beautiful photos on the Bill Milne trail(pictured on my blog header).

The Lake Louise tracksetting crews have been busy already today. The Great Divide, Upper & Lower Tramline, and Moraine Lake road have been trackset.

Some grooming is occurring today on the natural snow trails at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

It’s nice to finally see the Banff trail report saying the trails are “snow covered.”

  1. I’m not asking for much but I’d LOVE to be able to just drive ~15mins to some great tracks at Confed to take the family there… or a bit further at ~35min to WBC for their amazing views and trails especially the big Moose and Mountain View loops.

  2. Looking forward to seeing you there, Bob, as soon as it’s trackset. It’s one of my favourites as well!

  3. While we bought our parking pass early in the campaign we have yet to use it but our Wish is to Sing The Skier Bob Anthem in the very near future.

    Merry Merry to all
