Flying squirrel was in great shape

…as were all the other trails at the Canmore Nordic Centre

Meadowview trail. Win from Portland, Oregon is here for a week of skiing. Mar 21, 2011

Most of the trails at the Nordic Centre were groomed and trackset this morning. I had no trouble getting grip with VR45(rated for -2/-8), and although we’ve had a few cm of snow today, the glide was reasonably good and overall, conditions were pretty nice. The air temperature was -2.

I skied on Banff Trail, Bruin, Flying Squirrel, Bow, and Meadowview. Flying Squirrel was like a roller coaster on the downhill, tons of fun.

Talking to Win(pictured at the top), I was given another reminder of how good we have it here for XC skiing. People will travel a long way to experience what we have at our back door.

I wonder how long the good conditions will last. The weather will warm up for good one day soon, so every ski trip right now is a bonus. It looks like we have a few more cool days ahead.

One Comment:

  1. Too warm!!
We obviously need some waxing lessons 😛
We had a difficult slog around Pipestone yesterday through warm, sticky snow on platform skis. It was very slow going, though there was only a few cm of fresh snow on top of old grooming.

Has anyone been up to Paradise Valley or Chester Lake recently?
