Blast from the past

February 11, 2018

On my post about grooming equipment, I forgot to include the most important photo of all. Above is a man from my home town of Midale, SK, who created this snowmobile in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s for the school principal who was physically handicapped.

Grooming equipment – how much is there?

February 11, 2018

This is just a guess, but I figure there are at least 23 snowmobiles in operation to maintain the trails in the SkierBob kingdom, and 5 snowcats. Who would like to name all the locations and how many machines they have?

Sunday morning update

February 4, 2018

It looks like Calgary received more snow than expected and Canmore received less. I have about 6 cm at my place in Canmore. At 9 a.m, the sun is starting to peek out in the east but the west looks like heavy cloud cover. It’s -21°C.

Impaired skiing

February 3, 2018

If the roads are bad due to all the new snow, you might consider skiing to your destination. I doubt that Calgary police would stop you for “bad technique.” If it was a criminal offense, I’d be in jail for the rest of my life.    This story was posted in “The Local, Norway’s news […]

Sunday night update

January 7, 2018

I didn’t ski today, so I thought I’d post this remarkable photo from Nipika Mountain Resort’s Facebook page. It’s one of the few places where dogs are allowed to run off leash on the ski trails.  Speaking of dog-friendly ski trails,
