We arrived at the Elk Pass trailhead to 5 cm of new snow, and closer to 10 cm as we gained elevation. Windy.com was reasonably correct with their prediction
It was cold in PLPP today which means the snow is still in excellent condition. It was -10 at the Elk Pass parking lot at 2 pm with a bitterly cold wind so I didn’t linger.

For skiers willing to brave the first 1.3K of nasty, cold wind on Elk Pass, you were rewarded with new tracksetting and fantastic conditions on Elk Pass and Blueberry
-The hugging tree on Elk Pass- Elk Pass was in great shape today, and I made a point of getting a photo of Georgina’s hugging tree.
I’ve accepted the apology(on behalf of all xc skiers who were affected by this incident) and expect behaviors to change, but why does it take such extreme situations to make people aware of
-Mary at the top of the big hill. She had already been to the end of Elk Pass when I met her.- It was like Christmas morning

You’ve read the enthusiastic Trip Reports. It was indeed a terrific day on the south trails in PLPP. I might still be out there if I hadn’t run out of water.
