Something for everyone: heavy snow and bright sunshine

February 19, 2017

8 – 10 cm of new snow had accumulated on Tyrwhitt and it was still coming down. Later, when I skied down Pocaterra, the sky was blue and there was only a skiff of snow on last night’s tracksetting. Friday night potpourri

January 6, 2017

We have lots to talk about and I barely even need to mention my ski trip because WillSki did the job for me with great photos, too. I will post a few more photos in the gallery at the end of this update. I used to call it the Tyrwhitt Loop,

When I read that MaSid was going to Elk Pass to work on his couch, I was thinking it would be a good day to do some exploring and tracking.

18K of Cross-country ski heaven

December 30, 2016

Fantastic and beautiful. I’m thrilled to say this day has finally arrived! I skied the Tyrwhitt loop for the first time this season on wonderful conditions, but wait! It will be even better tomorrow as Jody was grooming the 20 cm of fresh snow on Elk Pass.

Unusual sighting on Tyrwhitt

December 30, 2016

I was already grinning ear-to-ear as I started through the Tyrwhitt meadows, but this sighting made it even bigger. I took 154 photos today, so you know it was a fantastic day and it will take me a while to go through them.  Update coming later.

PLPP grooming is underway

December 8, 2016

This is what we have been waiting for! 🙂 🙂 🙂   This Live Grooming Report showed up late this afternoon. There might be more to the story as I see only a portion of Lookout north side was done. With these cold temperatures, equipment problems can be a concern.

The wolf killers of Elk Pass

April 25, 2016
Thumbnail image for The wolf killers of Elk Pass

If you ski from the top of Elk Pass under the powerline into BC(the route to Elk Lakes cabin), you’ll see the disturbing signs of the depraved killers proudly displayed within the first 100 metres. On weekends, there’s a good chance you’ll see or hear these miscreants with their expensive snowmobiles and weapons looking to kill trophy […]

I thought 10:30 a.m. was early, but it wasn’t early enough. In fact, I don’t know if it even froze last night.
