We’re lucky to have skiing at Emerald Lake this winter, so let’s show our support

Emerald Lake is a wonderful place to xc ski

If you missed the news earlier this year, Parks Canada decided to end grooming of the xc trails in Yoho and Emerald Lake as a cost-saving measure. Thanks to some new developments, and some concerned people, there will indeed be grooming. This excerpt from an article in the Canmore Leader will bring you up to date:

“A popular cross-country ski area in Yoho National Park has been saved thanks to an agreement between Parks Canada and several organizations that benefit from it remaining open.

Approximately 15 kilometres of track set trails and a 5K loop on Emerald Lake will be available this winter after Parks Canada reached an agreement with Emerald Lake Lodge, Kicking Horse Ski Club and Emerald Lake Sports and Gifts to oversee the maintenance of the trails.”

  1. Hi,

I was wondering if the trails in Yoho are groomed for skate as well or just classic?

    Thanks!

Yoho Valley Road is wide enough for skating, but I don’t think it has been groomed for quite a while. -Bob
