Canmore Nordic Centre

Nice conditions on Frozen Thunder

Skiers enjoying the good snow conditions at Canmore Nordic Centre Nov 11, 2010

It’s amazing what a bit of cool weather and some man-made snow can do. The conditions have vastly improved on the Frozen Thunder loop.  You could even get by with regular wax if you were classic sking, and not a trace of sawdust to be found.

The Barnes twins, Lanny and Tracy from Colorado, and members of the U.S. Biathlon team. They had already been skiing for over two hours today, and knew all about Nov 11, 2010

With temperatures staying cool, it should be in good shape for the forseeable future. Lots of new snow is being made, so hopefully we’ll have some additional trails open soon.

There’s small amounts of snow in the forecast for Lake Louise – has anyone been there lately?

It’s always interesting to look at my blog stats and see what search terms people have entered and consequently were directed to my site:

Search terms:

is moraine lake road ready to ski yet?
when will snow come to calgary
moraine lake is there snow
lake louise nordic ski report
people falling when skiing

  1. Bob, keep up the good work. Your blog is really the go to site for the “skinny” on snow in the Kananaskis/Banff corridor. No snow yet in St.Paul and Alberta’s Lakeland. It would be great to tell you southerners that we’ve got snow and should come up to visit us… We’ll let your blog know. Some of us from our Lakeland Cross Country Ski Club will have a road trip to either the Cookie Loppet or the Lake Louise Loppet. It would be nice to meet up with any Club or group that could show us around and maybe even get together somewhere for a little grog. We would likely be staying in Canmore whichever weekend we go. Any suggestions?

  2. Same as, Neil. Really interesting to see how people are finding this blog post too, always good for a laugh!

  3. I’ve been up at Lake Louise skiing at the hill a few days this week. Nothing to speak of at Moraine Lake. Hopefully with what they are calling for next week, it will become skiable.
