Skier at Shaganappi golf course
This is a project to guarantee snow from mid-December to early March each year on a City-Centre golf course with excellent expressway and LRT access.
- We plan A Winter Wonderland – A Playground on Snow! Not just a place to go skiing and snowshoeing or a training facility.
- Shaganappi is an easy LRT lunchtime ride from downtown office
towers. - We need to make XC skiing fun, especially for children, and create skiers who will ski for life.
We want all Calgarians to come out to Shaganappi and learn how to enjoy winter!

Last winter I visited Fort McMurray and spent a morning xc skiing at the Ptarmigan Nordic Ski Club http://www.ptarmigannordic.org/ for a nominal fee. They run programs and events and have a small cabin with office and ski rentals. It was very impressive and some aspects of Ptarmigan may suit Shagannappi. Thank you to everyone for their work on this.
