If you were thinking of skiing at the Canmore Nordic centre this weekend, reconsider. I received this notice from Jim, president of the Canmore Nordic Ski Club:
Hey Bob,
We have approximately 500 racers registered for Alberta Cup 1 and 2 at Canmore Nordic Centre Saturday and Sunday. There is not going to be any public snow nor peace and quiet. Might let everyone know will be a good weekend to hit up Lake Louise or Elk Pass.

Nice sense of humour there! The CNC trail report indicates that Frozen Thunder will be closed Dec 1 – 3 which also includes Friday. Without Frozen Thunder, there’s limited terrain for skiing. If they can make snow tonight, they might have a few hundred metres open on Banff trail. The natural snow trails are too icy after last weekend meltdown and rain.
I have an update from the Great Divide at Lake Louise coming later tonight. It qualified as a “best day.” It was amazing. I have 149 pictures to go through so give me some time. Here are a couple teasers:
