Snow updates

6 pm update from Tracksetter Jeff at Kananaskis Village:

Tracksetter Jeff: “Snow at Kananaskis village is very wet. Alex is track packing at the moment. When it cools down we should be able to trackset.”

From the looks of the picnic tables above, I would estimate there is about 25+ cm of new snow.

Mud Lake(Chester, Burstall) at 4 pm was up to 27 cm which is probably close to the amount that PLPP and Mt Shark are receiving.

The photo below was sent in around noon today.

Ribbon Creek trailhead

Tracksetter Jeff sent the above photo along with this remark…

“15cm and counting at Ribbon Creek, don’t write off this area just yet.”

As of 1:30 pm, I’ve received 7 cm of heavy, wet snow in Canmore. Temperature is +1. The forecast is predicting lots more snow this afternoon and evening.

The ever-optimistic Snow Forecast is predicting 16 cm for Ribbon Creek today, and 22 cm for PLPP. It looks like they under-estimated this time.

As for the roads…

  1. We tried to do a little of Ribbon Creek yesterday, but it seems we were a couple days early. 🙂
