-Breaking trail at Sunshine on Sep 16, 2018. Photo by Chuck-
I was expecting to hear something from Chuck, and he didn’t disappoint…
“With 20 cms of fresh snow overnight at Sunshine, I realized that this would be a great opportunity to get up there on the bus (note the winter chains).
Last year we went up on Sept 22, so this year is just a few days earlier. I had to break trail and just did the Meadowpark loop.
An early season ski is a great way of making sure you are fully prepared for when the permanent snow comes!”

Way to go Chuck! This is inspiring so off to wax my skis…
I had a feeling you’d have a report from the field. I’m sure others were up at the Highwood as well where the rules are a little more relaxed!
Good on yer, Chuck! It looks magical 🙂
How do you know exactly where the hiking trail is??
Thanks Diana.
There is a dip in the snow where the hiking trail is, but you do have to keep watching out for it!
But the snow is melting fast now.
Thanks for your concern… but no worries, I stayed on the hiking trail.
Thank you for the update and inspirational pictures!
Great pictures nice ski .I am sure you are an innocent victim. But as they say ignorance is no excuse. Unfortunately you are in violation of the Canada National Parks Act: and subject to a penalty of $25 000 !

Delete your pictures change your name move to Mexico, maybe the all seeing big brother won’t track you down.
Why would they provide a bus to haul people up to Sunshine if they weren’t allowed to be there?
You do have to stay on the designated trails until October 15, but that does not mean you can’t be on skis!
