It might be too much to hope for, but I’d sure like to see a repeat of the fantastic ski season we had last winter. We won’t have to wait much longer to get started.
The autumn colours, cooler weather and shorter days are harbingers of good times ahead.

In anticipation of the upcoming ski season, we’re already seeing a few comments on this blog from readers who are preparing for the winter ahead. Skiing with a baby
Now I know why we didn’t get any trip reports from Cheryl B last winter. If anyone can offer some tips for skiing with a one-year-old, go to Ask A Question, Leave a Comment and leave some advice for Cheryl and her son Navin.
Frozen Thunder kicks off on Oct 20 for the keeners who will come to Canmore to get some early training in. We then wait for the first snowfalls at Lake Louise and Elk Pass. Moraine Lake road will be closed to vehicle traffic after Thanksgiving. The next time we go there, it will be on skis. Last year we were skiing on trackset trails on Nov 4.

Starting today, season passes at the Canmore Nordic Centre are on sale for 10% off until Oct 31. I can’t remember a winter where we’ve experienced such wonderful conditions at CNC as we did last year.

I’ve set up a page for the first Trip Reports of the new season. With this snow that’s in the forecast I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a report or two.

Trails at West Bragg Creek have seen some improvements over the summer with new bridges in strategic locations which will mitigate a few of the scary sections. I posted an update about the new bridge on Sundog.
