The loop is complete. Last night in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, Whiskey Jack and Tyrwhitt were trackset. Take note, Tyrwhitt is “partially” trackset. It is still rough in a few spots. The trail report indicates “no access to Whiskey Jack from Boulton Creek parking due to construction at Boulton Creek campground.”
Upper Pocaterra was trackset. Packers was groomed but is still rough, especially on the steep hill.
“Packers is extremely rough in places, and contains many natural hazards throughout- the steep hill at about the half way point is particularly bumpy, as is the area below this hill, and ice or slush also exists in this section- use extra caution if descending Packers.”
The current version of the PLPP Live Grooming report says “no access to Whiskey Jack from Boulton Parking Lot”. My PLPP ski trail map refers to “Boulton Parking” and “Boulton Bridge” parking. Does this mean that Whiskey Jack is accessible from Boulton Bridge parking?
I came through there on Thu and it is possible to ski from Boulton Bridge parking lot to the base of Whiskey Jack taking the detour route indicated by signage. Not sure if this will change as time goes on. From the BB lot take Boulton Creek trail north over the bridge and up the hill to the Trading Post cabin. Then follow the detours signs for ‘Whiskey Jack’ which will eventually land you at the base of the bottom hill on Whiskey Jack. At the top of that bottom hill, one can access both Whiskey Jack and Moraine trails.
Thanks, Jan!
