Thanks to Steve Riggs for the photo of the spectacular view from MaSid’s Elk Pass couch.
Thanks also to everyone for the trip reports today. If you’re considering going to PLPP, be sure to read all the reports because some trails have a bad case of Needlemania. The wind is taking its toll.
The tree debris will hopefully get covered up by this weekend’s predicted snowfall. There are conflicting forecasts regarding how much snow is coming. Snow Forecast is predicting 5 cm for Kananaskis Village but Windy.com is predicting 21 cm.
There’s a Wind Warning for Kananaskis overnight, and a Winter Storm Warning for Lake Louise.
The Kananaskis Village trails were trackset today. The trail report gives the following remarks…
“Expected strong winds and warm temperatures will have varying effects on the trails. Expect drifting, tree debris and spring like conditions.”
From Mary Perrott’s report, it appears that Mt Shark will receive it’s usual Thursday night tracksetting.
Chuck has provided our first report from the Lake O’Hara fire road now that it’s trackset along with 15 photos.
Friday, Jan 31 is the final day to register for the Huckleberry Loppet at Golden, BC.
