A beautiful day in Kananaskis

(I’ve posted the tracksetting updates at the end of this post) The Wedge Connector, Evan-Thomas, and Bill Milne were all in excellent condition today. The snow stayed cold and should still be in good shape for tomorrow.  Going downhill on Evan-Thomas I experienced fast tracks but not icy, and I…

This wouldn’t be possible without Kananaskis grooming

It would have been a tragedy if these trails hadn’t been groomed this winter. I skied on near-perfect conditions today while doing the loop that includes Evan-Thomas, Wedge Connector, and Bill Milne. I hope everyone will buy a Kananaskis parking pass.  Evan-Thomas was trackset last night for the first time…

The final grooming was wonderful

We took advantage of yesterday’s tracksetting on Wedge and Evan Thomas and had a great day of skiing. You may have read on the Ribbon Creek trail report that grooming has finished for the season on the Kananaskis Village, Ribbon Creek, Bill Milne, Wedge, Skogan Pass trails.

Wonderful snow on the final day of winter

It’s the first day of spring tomorrow. The last time spring arrived this early was in 1896 — 124 years ago! It’s usually on March 20 and occasionally March 21.  I was heading to PLPP to ski on yesterday’s new tracksetting, but stopped at Evan-Thomas to check the snow conditions.

Perfect conditions in Kananaskis

It’s possible that conditions may have been this good at some point in the past, but I can’t remember when.  It was -11°C with sunny skies and no wind at Kananaskis Village at 1:30 pm. I skied the Terrace north – Kovach Lookout – Kovach return to Village loop and…

Deep, perfect form, and crisp

I have an update on Goat Creek to post later tonight. I wish I could say I had the perfect tracks that Ernie and Maria enjoyed today. It’s incredible to see all the Ribbon Creek/Kananaskis Village/Bill  Milne/Skogan Pass trails in such great shape. This trip report put a smile on…

Wedge Connector(and a bit of Bill Milne)

Dec 27, 2019 The Wedge Connector is ideal if you’re a beginner or novice skier. Christine and I took Ricky out for his first ever ski trip today on Wedge and at the conclusion, he said it was a lot of fun.
