Fresh snow in PLPP

I’ve been marooned in Calgary, and haven’t been on skis for a week. I heard that it had snowed in the mountains yesterday(Friday) and this report and photo from Andrew confirms it:

Hello Bob,
thanks to yesterday’s snow fall, from ~2 cm at lower elevations to ~10 cm at Tyrwhitt/Elk Pass, conditions improved and were really very good.
Starting from Elkwood Parking Lot we skied Whiskey, Tyrwhitt and down by Elk Pass, we noticed significant improvement with snow condition as we skied further south and at higher elevations. Trails and tracks were well used by skiers and no ice or glazing was present even at lower elevations, some needles contamination was visible at lower elevations.

Thanks, Andrew, for the update, and yes, I’m just a little envious. – Bob

  1. Echoing Jades comments, we skied the same on Sunday. Near perfect conditions and weather!
Very busy Sunday, meeting up with many skiers that we knew on the trails made for a social day.
Dusting of new in Bragg Creek, but not enough to change the very icy conditions, so I haven’t skied there in the last week.

  2. It was heavenly in PlPP on Saturday. Surprisingly few people on the trails, but everyone was smiling. Did Elk, Blueberry Hill and Fox Creek. Soft, fresh snow, good tracks and lots of sunshine! They are still very low on snow base though, and the Cookie race on Feb 28 will probably hasten the end of the skiing for this year, as I don’t believe many of the lower trails will be able to stand the overuse.
