Snowfall Warning in Effect
The weather forecast is calling for another 15 – 20 cm by Sat morning. We’ve had at least 10 cm in the past 24 hours. I’m shovelling my deck at least 6 times a day, trying to keep a path cleared for Tessa.
It’s -23 here this morning, but tomorrow is supposed to warm up considerably, about -5. It’s going to be difficult for the ski grooming crews in Kananaskis and Banff to keep up with this. Bodes well, though, for next week and thereafter.
You can always count on the Nordic Centre to groom immediately after a snowfall, so trails in Canmore should all be in top shape tomorrow. If you look at the Pisten-Bully grooming status map, you can see that almost all trails were groomed and trackset early this morning.

Lake Louise to Banff update:
“We have the makings of a wonderful loppet! Trail crews have built the snow ramps on and off the river at Muleshoe (leg 5) and report above average snow coverage there and on the Healy Creek trail (leg 6). Beautifully set trails were skied on Sunday at Baker Creek (leg 2). With our special track setting permit expected in the next day or two, packing will begin on the other sections.”
