Two of this blog’s regular trip reporters were enjoying the fresh snow and packed trails at West Bragg Creek yesterday. I remember a similar occurrence in 2003 when an upslope storm brought lots of snow to Calgary and West Bragg and we were skiing long before the snow arrived in Lake Louise.
As Alf mentions in his report, this morning might be your last opportunity to ski on this early-season bonus snow. Wind and warm weather will make short work of it. You can see more pictures here Alf’s photos
Early snow in 2003
In 2003, we were skiing on Oct 31 at Hawk Ridge and on Nov 3 at West Bragg. Ribbon Creek on Nov 13. We didn’t make a trip to Lake Louise at all that fall. I did some digging around in the archives and found this photo. It was taken on Nov 6, 2003 at West Bragg Creek:(Hawk Ridge, which was near Hwy #22 and 68 ST SW is no longer open).
Wow! I never would have expected groomed trails there already. Too bad I have my day planned already.
