Update Sat Dec 13 @ 9:15 a.m. We’ve received 3 cm of snow in Canmore and it’s still coming down
Elk pass, Tyrwhitt, Hydroline, Patterson, Blueberry Hill, and Lower Lake were groomed last night. Tracksetter Jody gave this report early Saturday at 3:38 a.m.
Friday night the temperature finally dropped below freezing in PLPP after three days of warm temperatures, rain and high winds. The evening was spent trying to get under the crust as much as possible in the south end of the trail system. Check out the Live Grooming Report for full details.
Conditions will be fast and somewhat icy, but the needles have been mixed in and the fresh grooming should give a modicum of control- think spring skiing (it sure felt like spring grooming). The rest of the Park however, is currently Needlemania on Ice. On a positive note, I did see about 20 snowflakes on the way home- hopefully that is the start of more than what the forecasts are calling for.
About 5 cm’s of new snow fell this morning around the Pocaterra area, possibly more further south. Hopefully a little more accumulates before the sunshine returns.
As far as sainthood- I know sometimes it seems like it, but groomers aren’t miracle workers (I guess some could have side jobs). In my years of grooming 4AM has always been the beginning, end, or middle of a grooming shift, depending on the venue and weather conditions. I don’t think there is room for all shift workers to be saints. And I often get my rewards- fresh tracks.
3:38 am! Jody, you should be up for sainthood!
