The above photo was posted by Nipika Mountain Resort on Facebook with the caption “Finally enough snow to lure the Camocat out from hiding.”
Nipika owner Lyle Wilson sent this email:
“We had a very good day of snow today, between 10 – 15 cms landed on Nipika. All trails are groomed including the 20 kms of Single track Fat Bike Trails. The day Lodge is open all weekend, 9 AM – 5 PM daily. Ski School and rentals of skis, snowshoes and fat bikes at the barn.”
Nipika has some upcoming events this month for cross-country skiers. Jan 17 – 23 is Ski Week in the Rockies and the Nipika Loppet is Jan 30, 31:
“Saturday Jan 30 we hold our classic races. Distances from 30km to 1km will give everyone a challenge. Sunday Jan 31 we hold our Skate races. Distances that day range from 25km to 1km. As usual for our events we round off the day with a great barbecue and draw prizes!”
The loppet page leads to a dead end right now, but you can register for the Nipika loppet on Zone4.
I’ve received about 6 cm in Canmore, and the temperature this morning is -15°C. I’m happy to see that West Bragg got 5 – 7 cm and the trails are in the process of being groomed before the weekend.
All the trails at Mt Shark were groomed last night.
