-The new Trails Centre at West Bragg Creek-
I’m re-posting this from the Bragg Creek Ski Grooming’s Facebook page.
Activities continue apace for the opening of the cross country ski season!
Our trail maintenance team, led by David, have been finalising improvements on Elbow and Iron Springs, and Willie and the bridge crew have been out constructing new and re-decking old bridges throughout the system. We are all set for the season!
In the WBC parking lot, the big news is the arrival of the new Trails Centre! It is now in its new home, in the centre of the parking lot next to the middle information kiosk, kitted out with ski racks and even a waxing thermometer! The new Trails Centre will be a place where people can catch their breath and warm up after an outing on the ski / snow shoe / fatbike trails.
We are currently working on a plan and schedule for the operating hours of the Trails Centre, and are putting together a team of volunteers – if anyone would like to volunteer to be a part of this, please just reply to this email and we will make sure you are included – your help would be much appreciated! The more volunteers we have, the more we will be able to have the Trails Centre open for your use. info@braggcreektrails.org
On the grooming front, we have recently purchased an additional track-setting pan for one of our groomers, to improve the efficiencies of laying down double track – but these things all cost money, so your donations are very important for our continued operation.
We are also looking for a sponsor for our fuel supply – if you work for a company that might be interested in sponsoring our fuel costs, please let us know.
Looking forward to seeing you all out on the trails, and enjoy the rest of the unseasonably-warm weather while it lasts!!
Is the Trail Centre going to be heated?
Yes GMJ it has a direct vent propane heater which is currently operational. It also has a propane furnace that will operate when the generator is connected. Next year after the PRA is redeveloped there will be grid connect power that will enable the furnace to run as the main heating source.
