Needles be gone!
Just received a call from a skier who has a cabin in PLPP and it is snowing there. So far about 3 cm and temp is -5°C.
I also received about 3 cm overnight in Canmore. Temperature is -3 but is supposed to get colder as the day goes on. Skies are clear now.
This new snow will go a long way towards covering the tree debris which the wind of the past two days has blown onto the ski trails.
For those of you who didn’t realize there are cabins in PLPP, there are dozens of them near the eastern shore of the lower lake. They are well-hidden if you don’t know where to look. They were all there before the provincial park was created and have been grandfathered. Many of the old rustic cabins have been torn down and replaced with gazillion-dollar mansions. My friend has one of the old ones with a wood fireplace for heat and an outdoor bathroom.
For $1.4 million, this “cabin” can be yours

Confederation Golf Course parking update from Foothills Nordic Ski Club
Effective today (January 30), City of Calgary Golf Courses will be opening the Confederation Park Golf Course parking lot at 9:00 AM, Monday – Thursday and will monitor its operation until 4:00 PM. Foothills will continue to look after things from 4:00 PM to closing (9:00 PM).
This should help to address some of the daytime parking concerns that have been raised by nearby residents.
Thank you City of Calgary Golf Courses!

More great photos!
How observant are you when skiing? The following two photos were sent in by Mary Perrott(click on photos for larger image):
We have photos of snow Santa (missing his red hat) and a Snow Llama from a couple weeks ago.
We had a wonderful ski on fresh powder out of Pocaterra this am. Wonderful in that we had first tracks on a beautiful day. Needles were a minor irritant as we’re done twigs and a waxing conundrum for me. But enjoyed it anyway. ?
