I spent most of my day taking photos of the loppet trails along the Bow Valley Parkway. For those doing the Lake Louise to Banff loppet on Sunday, I’ll post those photos tomorrow.
I ended up at Lake Louise in mid-afternoon and decided to ski the Pipestone trails. I’m disappointed that I missed all the action(and sun) at the couch earlier in the day, but at least it had warmed up to -8 by the time I got started.
The sun had all but disappeared from the couch when I was there around 4 pm, but it was a pleasure to behold this masterpiece created by MaSid. I was happy to receive the sunny photo from Keith Bagnall.
The trails were amazingly good and I made it around the perimeter loop in record time.
There was a beautiful mist hovering over Pipestone pond.
I skied the outer loop counter-clockwise. Tracks were in excellent shape, just a few pine needles which didn’t stick in my cold wax. I used old Swix green -7/-13.
When returning on Pipestone and Hector, the downhills should be skied with caution. I was in an all-out snowplow to slow myself enough to make those sharp turns.
Looks like I should have put the river couch a few more feet to the right eh.
