Alasdair Fergusson from the Calgary Ski Club has an update on Shaganappi:
A Happy & Prosperous New Year to one and all.
Great snow and trails at Shaganappi with only a few bare spots, unfortunately on golf course pathways. If I can find the time in the next few days, I will go and shovel snow on the bare spots.
This is the new Shaganappi Trail Report
Many Calgarians are enjoying Shaganappi. On Saturday when I arrived to Trackset there were 54 cars in the parking lot at 3 pm.
On Sunday when my wife and I arrived to ski at 2:30 pm, there were about 65 cars in the parking lot. In both cases, cars were coming and going every minute or so as people came to ski for an hour or two.
This does not count pedestrian visitors coming through the main and west-end gates. This suggests perhaps as many as 300 to 400 skiers, possibly more, are enjoying this city-centre ski area each day of weekends or holidays when we have snow and good weather.
More importantly there were lots of families skiing on the golf course, many with young kids.
I also topped up the brochure rack with another 150 brochures with trail map. I have probably placed some 400 copies in the rack since November.
Pray for more snow!
Enjoy the skiing and spread the word.
