No sooner were Hugh and Pete commenting about avalanche danger on Lake O’Hara fire road, and I received a photo and a report re Redearth Creek. It’s very unusual to experience an avalanche on a groomed xc ski trail, but Redearth Creek is one trail where they do occur,
Before I get started on my update, I wanted to let everyone know that we probably won’t get timely updates on three specific trails for the rest of the winter.

-Redearth Creek at 8K has 10-12 cm of new snow- It was a good omen meeting Andrea on the trail because the snow started falling exactly the moment I took her picture. Environment Canada is predicting 5 cm

I’m surprised this turned out, considering I was skiing back at dusk. Watch around 2:05 as I ski through all those bushes overhanging the trail. Take your pruning shears if you go. I’ve added 14
-Helen Read and Bill McKeever were almost back when I met them- The Banff trail report this morning indicated that Redearth Creek was trackset yesterday.
By my count, I cleared the trail of 52 rocks, mostly on the first kilometre. Al and Bernadette who were ahead of me, also did their share. Childhood experiences never go to waste.
I enjoyed a bike trip on Redearth Creek yesterday, all the way to the warden’s cabin. I thought it would be interesting to compare photos for identical locations summer vs winter.
