The Banff tracksetter has given skiers a great Christmas present. Tracksetter Don obviously spent his Christmas working in -24 weather on an open snowmobile to groom and trackset Goat Creek and Spray River West.

Lovely weather and 3 cm of fresh snow made for a nice 19K trip along Goat creek and Spray river west yesterday(Sunday), with the usual “conditions.”
Yesterday, the Banff trail report indicated that Spray river east and west had been groomed and trackset,
I’ve come to expect a lot of multi-users on the initial section of Goat creek. Today, all the snowshoers turned around at 3.8K, at which time a nice set of tracks
This is the second time I’ve heard that desperate plea from a stranded skier, and luckily I had duct tape with me again today.
Between talking with numerous people on Goat creek/Spray river I managed to fit in 20.4K of skiing.
I went five days without skiing this trail! Goat creek and Spray river west were simply spectacular today. The 2-3 cm of cold snow we received in the past 24 hours has improved conditions.
The challenge today was to get to Banff in time to have the lunch special at the Silver Dragon. I was dropped off at the Goat creek trailhead above Canmore at 12 noon
