Bob, Cheryl and Tessa wish you a Merry Christmas

Season’s Greetings to all cross country skiers and all our Ski Here! readers. I won’t be updating the blog for a few days, but if you ski somewhere, let us know about it in the comments section below. There’s an embarrassment of riches of trails to ski on right now.

  1. Bragg Creek update,December 28-
12 cm of light fluff at -8 made for fabulous silky smooth skiing on Crystal Line-Iron Springs-Elbow-Loggers Loop this afternoon. Tracksets getting a bit filled in spots, but still mostly in good shape. Should be the best XC conditions in years at Bragg Creek once more grooming is done.

  2. West Bragg continues to be in fine shape.
We skied Moose Loop on Christmas Eve- Tracks a little drifted in and less defined, but overall good coverage and great skiing. Telephone Loop today the 27th, was skier tracked with a decent base. No rocks! A little choppy on the downhills in spots, especially on the East leg, I’d recommend using something a bit beefier than skinny racing skis and boots. Quite warm at around zero but no melting evident, and very busy in the parking lot.
We led our annual Norseman Ski Club “Boxing Day Blowout” loop over the Kananaskis Fire Lookout on the 26th., via Whiskeyjack, Hydroline, Fox Creek and Moraine. Great conditions except for Fox which is only fair, but with no rocks or roots showing. Very fast descending on the south side of Lookout on firm groomed with a skiff of new. Great Fun!
