Message from the LL tracksetter

John, who does some of the tracksetting at Lake Louise, sends this message:

Yes, We tracked Morraine + upper tram yesterday, lots of snow, just touching pavement with poles at bottom, no problem for skating, Parking lots will continue to be a problem, thx for noting the tram line option, messages to L.Louise Parks, via LL Info, will help, thanks for help + support from everyone.  JM

It would be nice to have a larger parking area for Moraine Lake Road. As noted, the Chateau parking lot is huge and you get an extra 1.6K of skiing to boot.

It’s great to get an update straight from the tracksetter. Thanks, John. Not to appear impatient or anything, but we’re all eagerly awaiting news about the Great Divide(1A Hwy).

If anyone skiing MLR has a GPS, let us know what the true distance is. The guide book says it’s 8K, but when I drove it in the summer, my odometer was 8.9K.

?As Liz has asked in the comments, does anyone have news regarding West Bragg? Chip is wondering about Shaganappi. Anything happening there?

  1. I can confirm the 8.9 km on GPS. Skiied MLR Friday and Saturday. Both days were great! Trackset though a little fresh snow had fallen overnight. In the sunshine and with the great views, didn’t notice the cold.

  2. Does anyone know if the trails at West Bragg have been groomed/trackset yet?
